西北广播公司中的旗舰电视频道——真实频道（True TV）近两年面临竞争对手的严重威胁，于是节目总监Cynthia找到了Ed，一个愚笨但长相讨好的录像店的职员，要求拍摄他一天24小时的真实生活，不加剪辑地呈现于公众面前。不料节目大卖，一时间Ed本人也成为名人甚至文化偶像，有人为他成立fans俱乐部，有人模仿他甚至有人跟踪他。但节目的副作用正在慢慢地降临到他和他的亲友头上——尤其是当他们也成为了节目的一部分：Ed因为争夺女人而和Ray兄弟失和，他们久不回家的父亲也重新出现并引起家人的敌意，最终Ed尝到了作茧自缚的滋味，他想尽各种办法把节目停掉……。Les habitants d’une tour de cité découvrent un matin qu’un voile noir obstrue toutes les fenêtres et la porte d’entrée de l’immeuble.
