中帼英雄刘金定与父刘天化得胜回朝，皇榜封其为"御妹靖国公主"，宣布当月十五为进香日，其时一律不准外人偷看御妹，违者斩。户部尚书封雷尚之子封加进于进香日假称张小二，不意冒渎看御妹，被赦。刘天化闻之大怒，欲抓小二未遂。金定芳心思小二得病，皇榜示：如能医御妹者，招为东床。加进走险冒充医生二看御妹。金定识破医生即张小二而神往，病愈。加进又来诊病，三看御妹吐露真情，喜订终身。刘天化悉之大怒，令将三看金定者封加进绑赴法场斩首。危急之际，雷尚请得圣旨，有情人终得花好月圆。。This film took the top honor at the 1969 Berlin Film Festival.
