某大厦的天台处，一名年轻的女子小英正要跳下，这时地上跑步的明光立刻跑过去救下小英，而另外一个青年伟也赶来，好不容易把小英救下。 小英因父去世，而有一笔保险金被保险公司诬告自杀，伤心走去其父意外的天台，不料看到一个东西从远处射来，才意外坠下，并非想跳下。明光为了分小英保险金的五分之一，帮她调查真相……。Steven Parnell, who was accused of murdering a number young girls the previous summer, is killed while in prison awaiting trial. Morse had not been involved in the case as he was on leave during most of that investigation.
