A TUBA TO CUBA follows New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band as they retrace their musical roots from the storied city of jazz to the shores of Cuba and in turn discover a connection that runs much deeper than could have been imagined.。影片以新中国第一位“特级英雄”杨根思为原型进行创作。讲述了抗美援朝期间，杨根思率领三连开拔长津湖，在下碣隅里外围小高岭，击退美军陆战一师8轮进攻，最终在弹药耗尽，血战至全排仅剩2名伤员的情况下，杨根思抱起最后的炸药包发起冲锋，用自己的生命保卫阵地的故事。。
